Service Overview

Tarin Resource Services, Ltd. is an Alberta-based private corporation specializing in geospatial data and technology, aligning with top quality talent and the latest technology. It’s a one-stop-shop for geospatial data products ranging from DEM collections to planimetric mapping, orthophoto, contours, LiDAR and 3D mesh. Tarin began as a way to aide in the efficient management of Alberta’s extensive land resources by fostering partnerships between governments, forestry and energy sectors to share in the costs of acquiring and processing aerial imagery.

Tarin’s mission is to provide innovative options for geospatial data and technology to its clients, and its vision is to be the preferred vendor in Western Canada. The company is a major influencer in the region’s speculative data market, as many industries consider aerial imagery to be an absolute necessity prior to starting a new project due to Tarin’s efforts.

Hexagon & Tarin’s Partnership

Tarin believes that there is great strength in partnerships and collaborations, which inevitably provide its clients with the best possible service and data. Tarin’s partnership with Hexagon dates back to 2001 with North West Geomatics (NWG), before NWG was acquired by Hexagon. Tarin and NWG collected speculative aerial data, and Tarin was the sales arm for both libraries. In 2004, NWG bought a small company called Pixxures and created Valtus, an online platform for selling and delivering imagery and LiDAR as well as a WMS steaming service. Tarin was one of the first to utilize technology which enabled its clients to have fast access to all available data.
